A Stitching Time……….WOYWW (#140)

Was it really me who was sitting here last week gloating about the fact that winter hadn’t hit my neck of the woods yet?
Well someone must have been eavesdropping and said, “I’ll show her” because as the week went on it got colder and colder and then on Sunday evening it happened………..snow….. loads of it!

Fortunately I didn’t have to go out in it but not too far away from where I live people were stranded on the M11 overnight and others had to walk down the train tracks at a nearby station to get home.

I’m really hoping that we don’t get any more and as I’m typing this the sun is shining and melting a lot of the snow, which is good as far as I’m concerned.
All I hope is that it doesn’t freeze over tonight when the temperature drops again.

Oh well, enough about the weather and onto what I’ve been up to this week.

Actually not a lot really because I’ve been spending my afternoons cross stitching squares for the Kids Company cushion project and catching up on a couple of old films I wanted to see.

The squares for the girls cushions are easy because there’s lots of charts for flowers, butterflies and other pretty things but finding charts for the boys cushions is always a bit of a challenge. Fortunatly I came across these fab card designs in a copy of The World of Cross Stitching mag and they’re bright and colourful and just perfect.

Here’s a sneak peek at the one that’s on my hoop at the moment.

I’ve also taken some time this week to update a few more of my old cross stitch projects on I’d Rather Be Stitchin

There’s a couple of Christmas projects

The Spirit of Christmas

The Twelve days of Christmas

And there's a couple of other projects including my very first Stitch-a Long and the start of my involvement with the Kid's Company project.

Kid's Company Project

My First Stitch-a-Long

And as for my desk………there’s stitching on it too, but not cross stitch......and it's tidy for once!

These little chaps were in one of the many Form-A-line kits that I brought a few years back.

There’s three designs in each kit and I go back to them time and time again because they are so versatile.

I’ve been asked to make a very special birthday card for a twenty year old who’s really only 5…..yes, you’ve guessed it, he was a Leap Year baby so what better than a frog on his card.

I’m not quite sure how I’m going to put them on the card yet or even the lay out of the card but hopefully once the stitching is complete I’ll come up with something……..at least I have until the end of the month to get it finished, so there’s no rush.

I've also had some feedback from Carol this week too, about the wedding invitations that I made for her.
Apparently she’s had lots of people saying how beautiful they were and even had a friend ask for my details because she’s planning her wedding,  so I might just get another order in the coming weeks.
Fingers crossed!

So that’s it from me for another week.
I’m off to make a big cup of coffee and then I’ll be back to do a spot of deck hopping.

If you fancy an hour (or several) seeing what’s happening in the world of What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, you’ll find all you need to know over at The Stamping Ground.

See you all soon.

Happy Crafting!
Sue

Really love all your cross stitch Sue. As a family we used to do loads of it when the children were young so my walls are full of cross stitch pics....I might try to snap a few to show you some time :-)

We had the snow on Saturday but it melted quite quickly although it's turned really cold again over the last couple of days.
Your xstitching is gorgeous. So bright and cheerful. You've inspired me to get mine out again and I've really enjoyed doing it while the TV is on. I might even have something finisshed to show you before the year is out, you never know.
Happy WOYWW

Cross-stitch and old films sounds a good combination, it's far too cold to be outside. We had a bit of snow but it all went - just frozen solid now. Love the quirky cross-stitch patterns - very different.
I've had some of the Form-a-lines patterns in the past, in fact their forum was the first I ever joined and I still post there, if infrequently now.

Hey, guess what? I'm knitting stuff for Kids Company, wrist warmers, hats and the like. I'm doing it through another WOYWWer, Jackie No 91. I hadn't heard of it before, but am enjoying doing stuff for it. I do stuff that knits up quickly - just going to do a couple more things before sending off a parcel.

Great cross stitch Sue - I have a few on the go here if you ever fancy finishing them for me :) Joke, one day I get back into it I expect!

Love the froggy - terrific idea!

Right, you asked about the box file I'm using here for indexing my stamps. I got it in Staples - their own brand, mine is black and I think they also have grey. The cards are 6" x 4" (packs of 100) and they also stock the dividers. I turn mine round to use the plain reverse of the tabs and will use a permanent fine liner to write the subjects on with. They come in three sizes, mine is the middle size - be careful not to get the smaller size of box file if it's for stamped images, 4" x 6" is perfect.

Usually easy to find near to the files and plastic pockets for filing - that sort of area.

Hope this helps - happy hunting!

Oh yeah, you have to watch that weather. If you gloat about it, it'll turn 'round and bite ya! Great silly fun cross stitch patterns for boys you have there. Nice tidy desk. I haven't done embroidery on paper in a long time. There's something to keep in the back of my head when I don't know what to do!

Love that frog ...what a fun technique. I know what a great cross sticher you are and it has fired my interest again but I gave up tears ago because it was a strain even on 14 count ...maybe I really need to have a go at tapastry again. My problem is that I want to try everything ...and then nothing gets done lol

Hello Sue, love your cross stitch projects, very cute. Used to do it a lot until my eyesight deteriorated to the point it put me off but I've got items around the house still, including a Loch Ness Monster which my wee granddaughter loves :) Thanks for popping in and leaving a comment - it's much appreciated. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Elizabeth x #2

Lovely tidy desk Sue. Your card for the leap year 'baby' is a wonderful idea - hope it all goes to plan. We've still got loads of snow piled up in our road here (in Romford) hopefully, it'll start to thaw soon.

I love the old family photo you have in your sidebar - I've just had a peep at your family heritage blog, love the scrapbook page on the latest post, it's beautiful! My brother is doing our family tree, it's interesting some of the things that turn up!

Love all your cross stitching too - I used to do a bit of that myself until I discovered more messy crafts to keep me amused!

Thanks for your visit to my desk already :)
