WOYWW #156 Happy 3rd Birthday WOYWW

When Julia over at  The Stamping Ground  first showed us what was on her desk 156 weeks ago she could never have guessed that it would go global and become the worldwide phenomenon that it has and now has close to 200 crafters playing along each week.

So here we are at its 3rd anniversary and by way of celebration there’s an ATC swap going on. Sadly I’m not able to join in with it this time but I still look forward to seeing everyone’s wonderful creations as they start to receive them.

And so to my desk this week and a wonderful piece of news that I will get to in a moment.

The long shot shows a table that’s not too messy for a change and an old toy, my Tag-a-Long, that’s not seen the light of day for some time.

At the front are some MME papers that I’m using to put a couple of card kits together. I have a ‘craft day’ planned for Monday with my special friend Lythan and when I go to her I never know what to take to play with, so this time I’m going to be more organized and take some kits with me.

I’m really looking forward to our day together but it’s going to be a sad one too because it’s the last time we will get together before she moves down to Torquay.

She tells me she has a guest room though, so I could be crafting by the seaside the next time we meet!

Sitting on top of my stack of drawers in front of my Distress Inks are the new re-inkers that I’ve just brought.

I brought the Spring set of ink pads and re-inkers a couple of weeks back and then read somewhere that they were also doing the re-inkers for the other two limited editions sets for a short while too so I ordered those as well.

Also on my table is my latest World of Cross Stitch and if any of you get this magazine you might just have seen me in there.

I wrote to them after the quilts and cushions for St Clare Hospice were finished and we presented them on Dad’s birthday last year.

Well, that was eleven months ago and it’s such a thrill to see it actually in print and to share the story of how the quilts came to be made and the help I had from my wonderful friends, because I couldn’t have done it without their help.

Well that’s it from me for another week.

Enjoy your swaps and I’ll be round as soon as I can to see what everyone is up to.

Happy Crafting!

WOYWW #155 - I'm a Bad, Bad Blogger

I bet that all of my fellow WOYWWer’s must be thinking that I’d dropped off the face of the earth, considering that the last time I blogged on here was back at the end of March.

I just want to say  a big thank you to the girls who left messages for me to see if I was ok.  I really am ok, but things were getting a little on top of me and I just needed to take a bit of break from things for a while, as you do sometimes.

I’ve still been crafting and doing my cross stitch though while I've been away, although not as much I had been before my break but I couldn't stay away any longer because I was really missing my weekly trip around the work desks of the world.

So now I'm back.........................and this is what was on my desk yesterday.

As you can see, it’s a bit of a mess!

When the picture was taken I was in the middle of making four Christening cards, which are finished now, for my friend Hazel’s Grandchildren who are being Christened this Sunday coming.

She always manages to set me a mammoth challenge when it comes to making cards for the twins and this was no exception because apart from not giving me very long to make them, the traditional baby in christening gown type card was out the window because the twins are almost four.

After much scratching of my head I decided to keep to a traditional look but used a digi cameo image of a small child’s head on each of the cards, which I think worked quite well.  I then finished them both off with matching boxes.

The next two card (from their Godfather) were a little trickier.

Luckily Hazel had said that the cards could be a more unconventional and super hero’s and princesses were mentioned, so it was thinking cap on and a search of the web for more digital images.

Here’s the results.

A Princess being christened in her fairy tale castle standing beside a font bedecked with flowers…….ok, it’s really a picture of a bird bath but I’m sure the Sophia won’t be able to tell the difference, Lol!

Usually when I make an A5 card I add a straight forward insert but as this was for a very special occasion I decided to decorate the inside of the card too.

Christian’s card has a little boy dressed as Superman on the front and he’s being christened in a Medieval castle.

I’ve decorated the inside of this one too.

So that’s about it from me for now and hopefully I’ll be here with you all next week and I'll try and pop in and see as many of you as I can during the week.

Don’t forget to pop across to  The Stamping Ground  and join in with What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday by sharing what’s on your desk this week.

I’m just off to update My Cross Stitch Blog so you can see how BoJangles portrait is progressing and also add my TUSAL this month, so please stop by later and let me know how you think he's coming along.

Thanks for stopping by and Thanks again to those who were worried about me, I was touched by your concern.

Just before I go I thought I show you a picture of me in my 'posh frock'.

It was taken at a Masonic Ladies Night where we were also celebrating my cousin Ken's 60th birthday
