Christmas is coming!………….WOYWW (#119)

A very Good Morning to my What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday pals out there and what a beautiful morning it is.
It’s still a little breezy here but the sun is shining and that makes a big difference in my book.

I can’t really say that I’ve had a very productive week to be honest and the heritage LO that I had hoped to make a start on hasn’t happened but I have made a start on the dreaded Christmas cards.
I like to get my own ones done and dusted before my friend start asking me to do theirs for them so an early start is essential if I don’t want to be chasing my tail come the start of December. And would you believe, I’ve even made a start on buying my Christmas presents so I’m feeling pretty pleased with myself.

My desk today is actually my desk yesterday and it shows the makings of my Christmas cards.
Just for speed I usually try to stick just a couple of designs for my own cards, so yesterday I was stamping and embossing with my new Penny Black stamp and getting in a right old mess with the Gold embossing powder.

Is it just me who ends up with it sprinkled all over the table and myself despite having a craft sheet down and one of those plastic trays to catch everything in?

So my first photo gives you a shot of my computer desk and some of the stamped images drying after I had coloured the berry’s and covered them with Glossy Accents.

The idea was that once it dried I would ink over the image with Distress Ink which I did on some of them and others I coloured with my Promarkers. As it goes I like the finish of those ones better but in reality when I need to make more than fifty the Distress Ink is going to be the quicker option.

My next photo shows the mess I was talking about previously.

Here I’ve cut out some of the tags from the images with the intension of layering them onto the card after coloring them with more Distress Ink and then I decided that instead of leaving it with the stamped snowflake I thought I would emboss some chipboard ones to stick on the top.

The other part of this card that’s time consuming is that I’m doing a spot of ‘fussy cutting’ (I only heard the term last week and Oh how I love it) by cutting around the images before putting them on the card so it’s just as well I’ve made an early start.

So that’s my desk this week.
Don’t forget to visit our ‘Queen of Snoop’ Julia for all you need to know to join in, but beware, it’s very addictive so don’t expect to get anything else done on Wednesdays. Lol!

And just before I go can say Thank You to anyone who had a look at the crafty bits I’m selling on eBay and made a bid on any of them. I’m pleased to say it’s gone really well and I’ve made around £40 to be split between the two charities, so Thanks again for your support.

I still have a few bits up for grabs Here here but they are not on eBay at the moment, so if you’re interested in anything just let me know.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sue

The cards will be lovely - I can't think about C until at least November. Something to do with teaching I think - need to get past harvest Festival time first - lol. x Jo

I like your golden snowflakes very much, they look great against the script! I don't blame you for making a start on Christmas - I'm doing the same with my stuff for the Christmas craft fairs. Well done for raising the cash for charity too! Also thanks for the great comments on my blog, I laughed at the thought of London trembling under the onslaught of the tubas, lol!!

Hi Sue
Thanks for your kind comment regarding Smudge.

You are not alone in getting EP everywhere. I've been stamping for twenty odd years and still make a mess with it.

Love your stamped images for your Christmas cards.

Your cards are looking lovely, Sue. I'm glad I'm not the only one who "mass produces" Christmas cards.
Well done on your ebay total.

Ah good for you Sue, it's a jolly good idea to do your own first, I must say. And I think you would find Distress Stain quicker still than the inkpads..my new best friend in speed terms!!

Thank you, Sue for stoping by. I'm running a little behind in my responses to WOYWW, as you can see. Good for you getting such a jump on Christmas. I'm impressed, I always wait until the last minute. You are right, with reduction printing you use the stamp once but you make several prints while you are at it. I've found that the stamp the remains is still usable for journaling or collage. It's just that some of the details have been deleted.

Absolutely adore that stamp (think I said that last time I was here!), and it's on my wish list too. EP has a habit of getting everywhere no matter the size of the containment zone! have a crafty weekend.

Sorry I am so late getting by this week but I wanted to pop by and visit your blog to say hello and to see what you are up to! Didn't have the time to post(except about newest Doswell addition) or craft the past two weeks due to being in Virginia visiting with the son's family to see the newest granddaughter born. Definitely a fun time none the less. Hope you have a great week. Vickie aka okienurse
