WOYWW #175 - Where did the year go?

I’ve been such a bad blogger lately and didn’t even manage to drop in on everyone that visited me for  What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday  last week.
There’s no excuse really other than the fact I was a bit distracted by a hospital appointment that was imminent, when I would get the results of the genetic blood test, but I’ll try and do better this week if I can.

The appointment I speak of was yesterday and it didn’t really go the way I wanted it to.
It turns out that I do have the hereditary faulty gene that was responsible for my cousin’s stroke last year, which increases my chances of having one by 5 – 7%.  I’m not going to dwell on it though, after all, I’ve lived with it for 57 years without knowing and had no problems so it’s a case of forearmed is forewarned. The only precaution I have to take is Aspirin everyday so I think I can cope with that.
I still would have been happier if it had come back clear though.

Anyway, enough of that and on to the reason we are here this morning and that’s so I can show you what’s on my desk.

I was quite shocked when I realised that it’s been a year this week since I last updated Family Footprints in the Sands of Time, my heritage blog ………..how ashamed am I………..…so I decided to get my albums out and that’s what’s laying on my table this morning.

It’s not that I haven’t done any layouts in that time, just that I’ve not put them on the blog, so it’s not quite as bad as it looks.

There’s also some very old pages that are not on there either so my aim this week is to bring it up to date with all the things I’ve already done and then work on some new pages.

Maybe I could start with Keith, my big brother, given that he celebrated his 65th birthday and Retirement at the weekend with a family get together.

Thanks for stopping by this week. I’m going to grab a cup of coffee now and then I’ll be by to see what you are all up to.

Happy Crafting!

Sue

Sorry the tests didn't come back better but knowing it is half the battle and taking the asprin will prob make your chances much lower than most of us Sue. As you say don't lose any sleep over it or you will die of worrying!! :-)
Big hugs,

It is always a shock to hear about faulty genetics! My father died from Parkinsons and I am exhibiting symptoms but I have decided to continue as is until more issues come up then I will be tested. Nothing they could do right now anyway so... Have fun organizing the geneology books/blog. I am horrible about that. Have a great week. Vickie #41

Just been over to have a proper look at the LO....gorgeous.I read a bit but will be back later....with a coffee ... to read the article. I too have not posted on G the P for nearly a year.
Up here , any one with high BP and who is overweight, is given medication which cuts the risk of strokes ...I wonder why you didn't get it...maybe your risk is even lower ....gene or no gene...now theres a thought. xx#70

Oh Sue, I'm sorry your tests didn't turn out the way you wanted, but I shouldn't dwell on it too much. It's only quite a small increase isn't it and I think we can get hung up on these things sometimes, I know I do.
Happy Birthday to your big brother and I hope he has a very happy retirement.
Hugs Lisax

Well these tests are helpful, because if you ever had a single symptom you would know not to ignore it! So glad you continue to be healthy though, and working on your other lovely blog! Happy WOYWW! --Sandy Leigh #24

Hi Sue thanks for popping by. I am sorry to hear about the test results. Sometimes I think we know of too many of the things to worry about related to health. Mind you you may find it gives you the impetus to keep fit and eat well and be happy which is surely just what the doctor ordered. Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 54

Life is a b****r at times, isn't it? But without being Pollyanna-ish, you've got the right idea - keep on going, try not to worry and take the medicine. Being positive is the most important factor, says she whose husband has undergone a quad heart bypass and Type 2 Diabetes in as many years..he's looking good and feeling well and very positive!

Hi Sue, love that layout! Keep taking the aspirin and try not to fret honey - all you can do is to follow their advice. Di xx

Modern medicine is brilliant but I sometimes wonder if it's better not to know the nasty things. My cup is always half full - so let's go with the positive - keep taking the Asprin and enjoy life!! Your family tree book will be a real treasure. x Jo

Try not to let the test results worry you, just do what you can to minimise the possibility I suppose. I always loved reading and seeing your family history pages so will look forward to more coming soon.
