WOYWW #163 - The best laid plans

Did I fall asleep or something and lose six days?

It can’t possibly be time for What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday again, can it?

Surly Not!

Well it seems it really is, so I’d best show you what you’ve called in here to see…….my desk!

Today I’m working on a Table Plan and am having real fun and games with it.

Originally I was under the impression that the bride wanted the tables stuck directly onto the mirror but after meeting with her I discovered I had got the wrong end of the stick and she wanted the mirror covered with Navy card.  (I’m glad in a way because I was thinking it was going to look very odd)

So, it was a quick trip to Craft Creations (My second last week) to get the card stock.
The trouble was they didn’t do it large enough to cover the mirror in one piece, so we decided it would be ok to have a join half way down seeing as it would mostly be covered when the tables were stuck over the top.

Next I had to cut it to fit by hand because I didn’t have a trimmer big enough to fit and guess what?.............You’ve got it………I managed to cut it wonky...............Aggghhhh!

So it was yet another trip to Craft Creations yesterday to get more card stock and this time I’ve managed to cut it correctly, Phew!

I already had the tables done and ready to be attached, all accept for the top table which was waiting for it's mount, but just as I was about to assemble it all I realised that I still didn't have all the correct card.  I was still missing a piece of the wide Stardream card stock.......why didn't I think of that yesterday?…......…Double Aggghhhh!

Well, I really don’t want to have to drive over to Craft Creations a fourth time, especially not until after the Olympic Games anyway because to get there I have to drive right passed the entrance to the  White Water Olympic Venue and it was busy enough there yesterday, so I’ve just ordered it on line instead.
I just hope they are good with order processing and don't take too long to get it in the post.

My next job will be all the place names, so the rest of my day is going to be spent printing, cutting and assembling.

Julie, over at The Stamping Ground should be pleased with me because I’ve managed to keep my blog short for once and only one photo too….don’t know how I managed that!

To find out what WOYWW is all about and to join in, visit the link to her blog where you’ll find all you need to know but I can’t honestly believe for a minute that there’s anyone left out there that don’t have a clue about this weekly phenomenon.

Enjoy your week and …………….

Happy Crafting!

Sue

wow, so you are really close to one of the game venues then, it must be exciting if not a little frustrating with all the tourist flow. waving hi from the hills of North Carolina where I cannot sleep and it's 2:37am..::sigh:: #50

What a fab job you've done with the table plan. Our daughter Amy and her hubby printed the one on corex bording for Michelle's wedding for us so that saved me one job [and did an amazing job too] :-)

lots of back and forth to the shop...don't blame you for ordering it online. Hope it gets there fast. I do the same thing and miscalculate or like with the ATC swap dump a cup of coffee all over my desk. Have a great week. Vickie #67

So glad not to be living in London for the Games! and DOH! to the wonky cut - but honestly, with a trimmer it would probably still be wonky. I've had 5+ and none cut as straight as a ruler and a craft knife. Well, usually :) I still manage to mis-align things and cut wonky sometimes.

I didn't realise you lived so close to all the Olympic action, Sue. It seems a world away up here in Yorkshire.
What a nightmare you are having, rather you than me with all this wedding work, it's very demanding to get everything just right isn't it and nothing ever goes just to plan. It's looking beautiful though. I love the idea of using the mirror as a frame. I remember you showing that some weeks ago.
I hope you get it all finished now without any more dramas.

I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't have laughed when I read about your many trips to the craft shop.... but it was only through recognition!! How many times have I got home and realised that I needed something else from the shop...usually caster sugar!! Don't ask me why, it's always the thing missing from my cupboard when I wanted to run up a quick cake..... *sigh*
So, you're in good company :D

Thank you for your kind comments. You're doing a great job of the plan. I don't know about you but I find that things fly into my basket if I go in a craft shop, so to go so many times in a week I'd need a mortgage, lol

I failed again this week with a too long post and four photos!
I think that table plan is going to look very classy. I hope the online order speeds it's way to you. I'd quite like to be close enough to soak up some of the Olympic atmosphere, but I can imagine it is quite frustrating at times. Kate #131

Lol, how crazy, all that driving around! Looks like it'll be worth it when it's done though, lovely colours and what a fantastic frame. Don't worry the Provisional Patent is already filed with the US Patent Office!! That's why we're showing it now, as his rights are protected. He's already got the garage, part of the basement and the downstairs study that I moved out of because of his untidiness! Now he's in my craft room!!! Maybe he just wants to be where I am, lol!!

Oh my goodness you poor thing, you may as well take out shares in the business LOL The best layed plans always seem to go pear shaped. I do hope the place cards come off without a hitch. Good luck.

Oh and I love the frame for the table seating.

Gosh, that table plan is fabulous! Of course, I'd forgotten you're near the Olympics - err, as well as Craft Creations. Do shoe the end results please - of the wedding goodies I mean!
