WOYWW #162 - Can it really be Summer?

Like most of you, I’m sure that this summer is the worst that I can remember weather wise. The rain has been lashing down and it’s been decidedly chilly in the evenings, so much so that I was even considering putting my heating back on for a while a couple of nights ago. I didn’t I might add and my resolve has paid off because there is a bright yellow thing in the sky this morning and if I remember correctly it’s called The Sun.

Fingers crossed it stays put for a while err!

Now then, as always on a Wednesday I awoke to the siren calls from Julia hailing all her crafting compatriots to congregate at The Stamping Ground for another round of What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday.

I’ve had a busy week again, still working on Wedding Stationery and the odd card or two….that’s not odd in the strange sense, Lol.

I’ve also been continuing with the re organising of some of my craft paraphernalia which is what the picture of my desk this morning shows.

I’ve finally got around to labelling all my Promarkers and I’ve made another swatch ring of all the colours which will make matching pens to patterned papers much easier.

I’ve also decided to number the tops of the pens to make putting them away in the correct place after use a little more straight forward………I’m dreadful at putting things back where they belong, so hopefully this will work for me.

Towards the back of the desk you can see the two new sets of pens that arrived yesterday, the Summer 2012 Limited Edition set and Metallic Set 2

Next up I tackled my dies.

I was running out of room in the CD case that I keep my Nesties in, so while I was out last week I brought a new larger one in Tesco, a bargain at just under £15 and it has enough space to hold 200 dies........…not that I have that many, but may be one day!

I’ve now managed to get all my thin dies in one place, grouped by manufacturer,

and also had room for my embossing folders too.

Right at the back I’ve created a section just for Christmas so I can go straight to them when the time comes but I don’t want to think about that just yet, Lol!

So that’s what my desk is looking like today.

I’m off to the garden to have a tidy up out there while that thing is still shining in the sky and I’ll be along later to see what’s on your desk later.

Happy Crafting!

Sue

Hi Sue, wonderful organisation, I did a chart with my promarkers but never look at it! I love your die storage, I have hesitated because I might forget which manufacturer etc. so your idea is brilliant! Am now going to follow suit and tackle mine. Thanks so much for the inspiration.....Happy WOYWW, Anne x #54

What a great idea to create a swatch - I've got a great promarker storage unit, but now I also have a lot of other pens, plus the limited edition sets, it would be nice to have all the colours together to compare. That's a job for me this afternoon! Sharon x 103

You're getting so organised, Sue - love it! Great idea to label the promarkers like that and I love the CD case for the dies and embossing folders. Atm I keep mine piled in really useful boxes, but think I might try CD cases instead because yours look so neat and tidy. Thanks for a peep at your workspace. Hope you have a good week - Hazel, WOYWW #124 x

I love sorting out and tiding - and I love what you've done with the CD Wallet - you can see the different die patterns so much clearer!
Like Trish, I'd spend a happy hour looking at that colour swatch ring, seeing what matched and what didn't. Now you can see where all your time is going to go, lol!!

I know I could get very naughty when it some to buying beads so at first am going to take apart a lot of my beady jewellery which I don't wear anymore and use those. Then I'll see how they go and maybe then I'll allow myself to buy some more. I am going to try to be good!!

Sue you are sooooo organised! Look at it this way, if the weather had been beautiful your desk wouldn't be half as organised as it is as you'd have been out making hay etc!!

It's lovely to see the sun again isn't it. It's been bright and breezy here today, just like being at the seaside.
You look as though you are really having a good sort out. I love the idea of the CD case for your dies, that's genius.

Wow! That's perfect organized! I love that and a few weeks ago I did the same with all my fabric pieces. The best part is you can find things quicker :-) Hope it will work with you too. Thanks for visiting me and hope you have a crafty week. Bye, Franka #44

Wow Sue, that's brilliant - so organised! I've got some of those CD cases with lots of discs in, but never thought of them for crafty storage (not that I have many dies... and my embossing folders are in a box).

Yes, I'm another one making swatches this week! Must be something in the air... Thanks for your comment. I'm still missing 9 Perfect Pearls - one day I'll complete the set. Today I made up another palette, this time of my alcohol inks - not as many as the Perfect Pearls but a good range of colours.

Happy WOYWW,

I have swatches for my ink pads Sue - but what a flipping brilliant idea to have one for markers. A job for a rainy day - like tomorrow probably :(

Happy WOYWW! Di xx

First, thanks for coming by my place earlier!

Now, I'm a bit OCD when it comes to organization so your post was brilliant for me! Thank you for all the inspiration!

I know you are across the pond and we don't have Tesco, but could you email me the name of the manufacturer of that CD storage case, please. I think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread and I'd love to find out how to get one! Thank you! darnell.knauss@gmail.com.

I hope you get some sunshine everyday soon. We are as sick of it as you are of the rain. Would be nice to have a happy balance.

Have a great week! Darnell #34

Great idea for the die-cuts and the embossing folders.I have one of those DVD cases, I bit bigger I think as it has handles to help lift it. Although, it's so heavy when full, the handles broke off!! Always looking for ideas to store Promarkers.
Happy WOYWW!! (On thursday! hope this rain stops soon!)

Hi, Sue, I admire your organization -- it does make "life" easier to know where things are. I definitely need to make swatches for various inks, sprays, etc. Happy WOYWW from Laura #114 (thanks for already popping over to visit!)

Now that is some super organizational skills happening and what a great way to store your promarkers. I also store my dies in a binder have done for years and I find it is perfect.

Thanks or sharing.
