Panic Stations! WOYWW #145 & Daring Cardmaker's

Yep, it was most definitely panic stations at 8pm last night here at Sue's Krafty Kards, when I managed to chuck a cup of Black coffee all over the Beige carpet in my lounge.

I had just made the drink and settled myself down with some stitching when I thought to myself, if I didn’t move the cushion I'm leaning against it was going to fall over the arm of the sofa.  No sooner than the thought crossed my mind, that’s exactly what happened, taking the full cup of coffee with it.

I mopped it up as best I could with loads of cold water…….do you think I remember what’s the best thing to use on coffee spills.......….and then phoned the carpet cleaner guy who used to do dads carpets for him and he came out first thing this morning and treated the spill for me. It looks like it’s all come out but it’s hard to tell while it’s still wet. He didn’t have time this morning but he’s coming back next week to clean the whole carpet for me, so hopefully it will look as good as new when it's done.

Anyway, on to why I’m here and as we all already know Wednesday means a day of blog hopping around the craft desks, kitchen tables and floors for the craft world to see what everyone is busy working on this week.
Julia has all the details of how to join in over at   The stamping ground   so why not pay her a visit and join in the fun.

My own desk has the remnants of a little challenge I set myself this week.

When I made this card on Sunday I got out four coordinating 12 x 12 papers from my MME ‘Complete Boy’ stack and also one sheet of 12 x 12 from the Costco kit to use for some matting.

Incidentally Sandee  was saying that she would like to see the layering close up, so here you go Sandee.

I’m not sure that it shows up very well in the picture but there are four different layers there.

So as I was saying, I made the card and instead of putting the remaining papers away again I decided that I would try and use them up straight away and made six more cards.

I’ve used some Rub-On’s on these first two that I brought what must be around five years ago and put away in the cupboard because I didn’t know what to use them on.
As it happens the colours in them are a great match for the papers, so maybe I must have been subconsciously saving them for this moment.  I’m really pleased with them anyway!

I’m linking this one to the  Daring Cardmakers  challenge this week which is all about 'Tessellation'.  Basically it means creating a pattern with shapes that fit together on all sides and the background layer of this card is made using 9 x 4cm squares.

On the next one I’ve used the TH tattered Flower die as the main focal point.

My final three cards are a copy of a fab design by Jo Kill that was in Papercraft Essential recently. Hope you didn’t mind me high jacking your design Jo?

I did email Jo yesterday to ask if it was ok to show these, seeing as it’s her design but as yet I’ve had no reply so I hope it’s ok.

I’ve made mine so that each one opens a different way.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a 'Crafty' week ahead.

Such lovely cards!

I wish I only had coffee to worry about on a carpet. With pets, it's a constant battle of the foot prints, cat yak and occasionally pee!

I felt your pain over the spillage...it sort of happens in slow motion doesn't it...arghhhhhh

Oh yes...our cats (who have now passed away) made a lovely mess on a light coloured carpet too, bought a new carpet and guess what? Visiting cat, thinks it's just the place to leave his 'kill' !! Lovely snoop!
Have a great crafting week.

Oh nightmare, Sue. I hope the carpet man managed to get it all out for you. We have hard floors, so much easier with children and pets to keep clean.
You've been so busy with your gorgeous cards. I love the tattered flower one, that's a great layout.
Happy WOYWW

Oh Sue - your poor carpet! Mine is beige with flecks of coffee colour so when I spill as long as I mop each stain up straight away you can't see it! Clever huh! Your cards are amazing this week - they must take hours to do. x Jo

Such a pleasure to visit your desk - your creations are just beautiful - love the colours in those papers and that tattered flower is stunning. Having no carpets in most of the house, I have asthma, I don't have to worry about spills like yours - hope your carpet cleaner got the coffee stain out okay for you. Thanks for your earlier comment - there had to be a seating/snoozing area for Bonnie, she's like my children were, she's only happy if she's in the same room as me :)It's the anniversary of her adoption tomorrow - 3 years now which makes her approximately 12 years old - we can't be entirely surer of her age than that. Hope you are having a great Wednesday and that the week will be happily creative for you. Elizabeth x #11

Some beautiful cards there Sue. Lovely colour range too. I remember when I knocked a full glass of red wine over and DH tried to save it but instead knocked his over too.... it all went in slo-mo and I just knew what was going to happen as it rolled on. The trouble was that I had a lovely meal just ready to eat but had to deal with the mess.

thanks for your comments re my lovely tree.

The colours that you've used are like soft, much washed denims, which I love. It's shabby chic, but without without the grunge!! Thanks for visiting :)

Great cards there ...and I bet you thought the coffee was the last straw. ...mind you I couldn't cope with a light carpet with the kids and the cats.

What a great collection of new cards. I think your challenge to yourself is a good one that lots of us could pick up on--use up the papers we pull out for a project. I know I usually cut just a small slice out of 12x12s and save the rest for another project, but it is a great idea to use it up all at once, when you probably have other things lying about that go well with it. Sorry to hear about the coffee spillage. UGH!

Beautiful cards Sue, absolutely love the colours. My husband managed to dump a bowl or kim-chi on the lounge carpet this week.... try getting turmeric, chilli and cinnamon out of a beige carpet! I'd take the coffee any day, lol!

Wow what beautiful cards. I love the car. Just wondering if is a stamp. Your colors are fantastic and what a great way to use up all the pieces.

Now, if you can just use that newly acquired 'use it' discipline, you'll ne'er have scraps and boy, will you have a stack of fab cards! I agree about the rub ons; I have stuff of about the same age that I'm suddenly finding perfect for my needs, a five year turn around on stock...lucky we aren't in business!!
