A Time To Sew.........

Well once I've sorted out the threads that is!

Hi folks, welcome to another wet but slightly warmer day in craft land and as it’s Wednesday you can guess what’s coming next…………

It’s What’s On Your Work Desk Wednesday

There’s no card making stuff on my desk this week because the only card I’ve made was for the Daring Cardmakers dare on Friday.
If you want to see that you’ll have to join us on Friday but my desk is covered with something that’s very important though.

You may remember this picture of the pile of threads
.
.
that Dan from Sew and So sent to me for the Kids Company project Sharing Colour and Comfort, well you’ll be pleased to hear that I’ve actually got around to separating some of the bundles.
. .
It’s taking forever though and so far and I’ve only scratched the surface but the good thing is it will keep me stitching for the project for the foreseeable future and it keeps me out of mischief too, if the truth be known!

Up in the Left hand corner is one of the cushion fronts that I’ve stitched, waiting to be sent to Nicki in Switzerland.
. .It’s my first attempt at stitching on the Afghan material that Dan also sent and I think the results were pleasing so I'll definitely stitch some more.
It was quite quick to do too because the thread count on the material is low and that meant I could stitch with all six strands of the thread instead of the usual two.

The actually finished size is a bit bigger than the usual cushions Nicki makes but if it's no good for the individual kids then I think it might make up into a nice floor cushion for one of the rooms that Kids Company use.

So what else is there to see in my craft room this morning?

I felt a little braver this week and decided to turn my camera round so you can see a bit more of my craft room.
First is the cupboard where everything gets hidden.
. .The photo is deceiving because it looks decidedly tidy but don’t be fooled, there’s no order to what’s in most of the draws and every time I want something I end up looking thought almost every one of them before I find what I’m looking for.
I really need to set aside a day, have a good sort out and label up the fronts.

The next photo is of my computer desk, which for once is fairly clear too.
. .Not much of interest at all really except for the new replacement light for my photo studio, in invite to my God Daughter’s Hen Night Dinner (for the oldies) and my credit card, which gives away the fact that I succumbed to the TSV yesterday and now I’m waiting eagerly for Tim Holtz to arrive……..not the man himself unfortunately.

On the walls above my desk you can see a couple of pieces of my stitching.
The one on the side wall was my first attempt at Crawl Work and is the 'The Tree of Life' I stitched that in 1986.
The other picture was part of my 50th birthday pressie from Nicki and I just love the wording on it...' People who don't like cats must have been mice in a previous life. That one was stitched more recently, in 2007.

So there you have it, my workroom and desk.
If you feel like joining in the fun and having a nosy around a few work spaces pop right on over to Julie’s and pull up a chair.

I have a few things to sort out not but I’ll be along later to see what you’re all up to this week.
Bye for now and thanks for dropping in.
Sue

Really love your sewing Sue. I have a feeling you have tidied all your storage space before snapping but I do have to say I just love it all. Would love to be let loose for an hour or more to have a good rummage round :-)

I was getting worried by all those drawers till you admitted not knowing what was in which one, now I feel better. Great space, hope Tim arrives soon (I missed out, being at work all day, sadly)

What a tidy desk and cupboards, even if you don't know what's in each box!
I love the cute sewing you have done but don't envy you unwinding all those threads. I enjoy cross-stitch too but it's a while since I did any as Papercraft seems to have taken over!

Ooh you will be busy then sorting those threads out :) Love the cushion you're doing ;) Isn't it difficult to find where your needle needs to go on the Afghan fabric? It looks like it would be. Your storage is extemely tidy. Love the 'cat' sentiment hehe.

nice big space you have Sue. I'd love to sit here and sort those threads out - I find things like that theraputic. Once I dropped a tray of beads - swore a little but enjoyed sorting them out (I know - weird!!)

Love the stiching projects you've done too.

what fun sorting all that thread ...maybe fun is not he right word lol
I used to love cross stiching until I had to wear glasses all the time and I never could get a pair that let me enjoy it still. Now lack of light makes things harder to see.. Your craft shelves look very organized.
